There were so many choices for these window lights, and so much criticism 5s, but also 1s, which I always look at. I went with the highest ratings (4 &5). I will say that while these candles **and the base** are a kind of soft plastic: 1) it came with batteries; 2) the remote is great (lots of options for intensity; flame/light option; 4/8 hour timer that works! —close up; 3) and they last (we used them through the holidays; I’d use them all year long if my wife would let me. :) A successful purchase.This was added on in the middle of the summer. We’ve been using the candles to memorialize the people dying in the pandemic. Doing so, we found another hidden dimension— and we still don’t know how it works: Willie the eight hour timer is set, somehow the candles know that it’s still daytime, and don’t come on until dusk, then stay on for the eight hours. It’s as if there’s a light sensor in the candles even though there isn’t, so the timer is much more sophisticated than anyone, including the manufacturers, have noted! An added feature/bonus. Amazing product for the price!Only 3 of 4 worked from the get-go. The 'flicker' looks nothing like a candle flicker...it's more like a very slight dimming, then back to full. Occurs really slowly. I was looking for ones like I bought couple years ago, but couldn't find them anywhere. They were equally cheap as these, have a great flicker, and only use 2 batteries. These looked very similar, so I was hopeful. Nope.I like the remote. Suction works well. Timer works well.I am very pleased with the purchase of these candles. They far exceeded my expectations. They are easy to use and look beautiful.I like that batteries are included. Easy to set up and work perfectly.These are not fancy, but they look reasonable at close range and great at a slight distance. From outside they do look like candles and show up well.Putting them everywhere I wanted required several different installation methods, but they came with everything I needed. They are simple to install and simple to use. The original batteries lasted several months.Overall I am very pleased. They made the house look nice for Christmas with very little effort and no maintenance. The come with the necessary batteries. The remote is very easy to use - and it actually works! Time will tell whether they have longevity. I particularly like the flicker and brightness controls on the remote. You can set these to the perfect intensity. I am very pleased with these candles.I love the candles and the holders. I was surprised that the batteries which were included did not work, not one of them worked!!!!
